We have been exclusively retained by our Client, an international Asset Management Group, looking to hire their first Global Head of Legal & Compliance who will also be the UK SMF16 with oversight for their newly Authorised UK business (whilst managing an experienced UK Head of Compliance & MLRO). Reporting to the CEO and Board, duties will include:

• Management of the group legal function including creating a global legal framework and developing all group procedures (until now localised).

• Overseeing the Global compliance team and programme and advising the senior management team on all UK Compliance obligations & requirements, ensuring they are kept up to speed with all upcoming regulatory changes.

• Provision of reactive and pro-active legal advice to Group on all matters including regulatory, corporate, litigation, employment, IT, IP, DPA and general commercial issues

• Development and delivery of strategic legal risk management initiatives such that the Group’s business activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.

• Implementation and development of legal strategy and plans.

• Creation of effective global organizational structure for the Group ensuring opening of new legal entities within the Group in accordance with corporate interests and local regulations.

• Advising on offshore fund structures

• Development of commercial and internal documents and contracts (for external suppliers, staff, etc) including review of all incoming legal documents from external partners.

• Assisting in preparation of legal, risk and compliance-related supporting documentation and materials for Group & UK Board meetings

The successful candidate must be a lawyer (10+ years PQE) with at least 5 years in an In-House Legal role (or similar combined role) gained with a Global Asset Management business. You will also have gained significant FCA Compliance experience, with a good knowledge of the relevant UK rules and regulations applicable to UK Asset Management business (including FSMA, AIFMD & MiFID II).
