Tax Accountant

Position Summary

The Tax Accountant is responsible for assigned tax functions and processes within the Finance Department. This is an internal, not a public accounting role. The Tax Accountant will prepare firm's tax returns, complete various regulatory tasks, and perform tax research. This is a remote or hybrid role and the Tax Accountant will report to the Finance Manager.

The firm has one available position in either Atlanta, GA; Austin, TX; Cleveland, OH; Dover, OH; or Portland, OR. Some positions at Novogradac may be open to remote or hybrid work arrangements depending on business needs. Please discuss available options with your recruiter.

Your Contributions and Position
  • Prepare partnership and composite tax returns for the firm.
  • Prepare and file personal property and various multistate tax returns for multiple locations and entities.
  • Calculate and prepare quarterly estimated payments and extensions.
  • Research new tax rules and local tax requirements for state and local jurisdictions.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks to ensure compliance with professional, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned.
Your Background and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree, in accounting or finance
  • 1-3 years of related accounting experience, or appropriate balance of education and work experience
  • Prior experience in a professional services firm a plus and/or CPA license is a plus
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of accounting and tax rules.
  • Ability to research tax rules and efficiently organize and present findings.
  • Knowledge of local and state tax rules is a plus.
  • Display strong analytical skills, including the ability to gather information, conduct analyses, present findings, and create solutions.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities.
  • Superior organizational and follow-through skills, performing work accurately with strong attention to detail.
  • Display strong analytical skills, including the ability to gather information, conduct analyses, present findings, and create solutions.
  • Strong computer skills, including solid skill in the Microsoft Office suite, in particular with Excel, as well as experience using accounting software systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Compensation $65,000 to $77,000 depending on experience. More is possible if experience dictates.
