The Content Executive role sits within the Hays Strategy Marketing Team, who are responsible for supporting the UK & Ireland business, which comprises around 3,000 employees in around 75 offices.


This role will be report into the Marketing Manager and will work closely with internal stakeholders from several business unit industries as a technical content producer. The Content Executive will need to build a deep understanding of these industries to gain market expertise and create content around industry trends that will resonate and engage with their communities.

To fully and successfully support these business units, this role will be best served by someone with experience in technical content production. The Content Executive will own content creation plans that support business objectives, highlight industry topics/themes, and raise awareness of Hays as a lifelong partner for candidates and clients. Quality content that is search engine optimised (SEO), driven by data insights, excites users, generates conversation and generates leads will form the core responsibilities of this role.

The role will involve strategising, creating, and disseminating multi-platform content, spanning web copy, emails, social media, podcasts, imagery and graphics, LinkedIn Lives, roundtables, webinars and video, etc. Content will need to target different demographics (employers, jobseekers and prospective Hays employees) across each business unit. Content must therefore be timely, relevant and engaging to meet pre-agreed targets, using data to inform success metrics or opportunities for optimisation/uplift for business actions.


The Content Executive will need to work effectively with the other content producers and wider marketing department to support with the wider editorial content calendar including evergreen content, awareness days and national reports, peer reviewing content, owning communication processes and ensuring that on and offline content is executed effectively and maximised across multiple channels. External stakeholder engagement may also be required for content sharing with third parties.

Content creation

  • Produce content that showcases Hays as specialist experts in specific business units
  • Engage target audiences to raise awareness of Hays among existing and potential clients and candidates within relevant business units
  • Write effective and engaging copy that is:
  • Develop engaging specialism messaging for use across different marketing channels
  • Research and raise awareness of industry-specific trends

Planning and editorial management

  • Project manage content plans with a specific business unit focus
  • Clearly and consistently communicate with stakeholders – online and offline
  • Work with the Marketing Manager and business stakeholders to communicate content strategies, timings, project progress, resources needed, targets and expected outcomes
  • Work with other content producers, Marketing Manager and wider Marketing teams to deliver the wider editorial content calendar
  • Gather feedback and data analysis on the success of content activities, and report learnings to demonstrate the value of marketing activity and opportunities for growth
  • Ensure stakeholders are engaged with the content

Marketing team

  • Work with other members of the wider UK/Group Marketing teams including social, PR, email, web team, creative studio and events to ensure seamless delivery and optimum impact of all activity.

For example:

  • Develop creative briefs and manage projects through the in-house design team
  • Work with events team to ensure appropriate literature is available for all events
  • Work with PR to optimise marketing activity and impact of thought leadership reports
  • Work alongside the design team, to produce material that is visually engaging and adheres to brand guidelines


Key Requirements for success

  • Degree educated or business equivalent within marketing
  • Experience of creating engaging content marketing strategies, ideally for specific industries or sectors
  • Multi-platform/cross-channel, online and offline content marketing experience: SEO copywriting, infographics, imagery, video creation, interviews, blog posts, social media, webinars, roundtables, live events, LinkedIn Lives, etc.
  • A solid understanding of the principles of B2B and B2C marketing disciplines
  • Energetic and enthusiastic self-starter, with a genuine interest in content
  • First-class people skills: able to develop good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrates behaviour which supports the Hays brand values
  • MS Word essential
  • Experience across Adobe suite may be advantageous
  • Google Analytics will be key for measuring successes
  • Experience with SEMRush would be advantageous
  • Experience of project management and editorial planning tools such as Asana would be advantageous
