We are working with a leading international legal business with over 2,900 colleagues and diverse capabilities.
They are a broad-based commercial firm with a strong heritage in insurance, health, and real estate, alongside a rapidly growing Business Advisory capability.
The Role
- You will contribute significantly to the growth and success of their commercial dispute resolution team in Bristol. The team serves in-house legal departments and corporate clients across various sectors, with a strong emphasis on financial services.
- They are highly regarded regionally and nationally, with top rankings in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners directories and several recognized leading individuals at the helm.
- The team handles diverse work involving court litigation, mediation, other ADR methods, and regulatory proceedings.
- The high-value work is often international, offering ambitious dispute resolution lawyers early exposure to a broad range of cases.
Areas of Work for Junior Lawyers Include:
- Commercial disputes involving contracts, M&A transactions, shareholder disagreements, tech, IP, fraud, and debt recovery.
- Disputes requiring urgent relief to enforce restrictive covenants, protect confidential information, and other assets.
- Financial services disputes, particularly for in-house legal teams of insurers, wealth managers, and advice networks.
- Professional negligence claims and related coverage advice, focusing on financial professionals and including ombudsman service referrals and disciplinary investigations.
- Defamation and reputation management.
- Cybersecurity and data claims.
- Regulatory investigations and criminal defense.
Responsibilities
- Assist Legal Directors and Partners on larger matters while managing your own caseload of pre-action and litigated cases.
- Serve as a client contact, demonstrating knowledge and skill appropriate to your experience level.
- Support team marketing and business development activities, including writing articles and providing client training.
- Maintain and enhance technical knowledge through training sessions, reading relevant publications, and exceeding CPD requirements.
Ideal Candidate
- A newly qualified to 4 PQE Solicitor with relevant experience or interest in our practice areas.
- Enthusiastic about working across diverse practice areas and sectors, with the ability to adapt and learn quickly.
- Strong academic background at degree and CPE and/or LPC level (or equivalent).
- Client-focused and commercially minded with a keen grasp of legal issues and conceptual problems.
- Team-oriented with a willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues.
