Job Description

Summary:

Elberta Valley Ag is seeking a collaborative and self-motivated Farm Maintenance Technician to join our dairy operations team!

Responsibilities:
• Repair and upkeep all farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment.
• Review and create regular and monthly maintenance schedules on all equipment with Supervisor.
• Properly and safely care for animals.
• Help with the tasks regarding sick and deceased livestock.
• Keep all pens clean and dry.
• Operate farm and heavy equipment such as loaders, harvesters, tractors, skid loader, and trucks.
• Help Supervisors to meet deadlines by completing all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, including team and individual duties.
• Track costs and find ways to come in under budget; looking ways to further improve processes and make operations more efficient.
• Champion a world-class safety culture by adhering to all safety procedures and policies.
• Keep up with all industry and company required training, licenses, and certifications to perform job effectively.

Qualifications:
• 2 years experience running a variety of equipment including trucks, loaders, backhoes, tractors, and forklifts.
• Valid, in-state driver's license.
• Previous farm/ag or mechanic experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational school or trade apprenticeships a plus.
• Good communication skills with ability to work independently and as an active member of a team.
• Bilingual Spanish/English desired.
• Be willing to learn maintenance for all types of equipment.
• Be willing to work around animals and help where necessary, which includes working in and around animal waste and sick/deceased animals. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role, as well as work outside in year-round weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow
