Job Description

As the Head of Cards, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the strategic vision for the Bank’s card services. You will oversee the design and enhancement of card products and ensure a superior customer experience. Leading a team, collaborating with stakeholders, and managing the card product lifecycle will be key to your success. Post graduate Computer Science / Engineering degree – Preferred Proven experience in: AWS 10 years of experience working in enterprise architecture domain – specific focus on digital experience working on microservices, API, cloud native architecture, containers. Senior Management experience - Able to engage and influence at a senior level. Experience in security by design of platforms preferred. Ability to operate in a start-up mentality and unstructured environment As the lead, the role includes: Responsible for the management of the centralized function. This encompasses Enterprise Architecture, and includes Domain specialized Architects, as well as Enterprise Data and Security Architects. Responsible for the management of the decentralised function which includes architects in specific implementation teams e.g. Core, Card, Payments and Onboarding. Support the active, evolutionary design of the Company's technology and digital eco-systems, that meets the current and future needs of the business. Ensure solutions are efficient, secure, easy to maintain and enabling business value. Analysing the current business and technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. Drive the Architecture lifecycle consisting of Strategy alignment, Enterprise Architecture Planning, Solution Architecture Design, Implementation Guidance, Review and Validation, Continuous Improvement and Governance. Defining organizational requirements for the resources, structures, and cultural changes necessary to support the Architect Chapter. Promoting the architectural process, outcomes, and results to the organization, this includes assessing (through appropriate metrics) and communicating the achievement and impact of the Architect Chapter, as well as leading the development and execution of the chapter’s communication and education plan. Partner closely with other technology teams to ensure we deliver the right digital architectural strategies and outcomes that are strategically aligned across our business. Design and prototype platform architectures to enable the digital adoption. Responsible for staying updated on technology trends and provide impact analysis on how it will impact the digital plans. Support evaluation of vendor’s platforms, architectures and propose the right solution that best fits customer’s business requirements.  Ensure cost efficiency through financial and corporate governance Contribute to the development and implementation of fit for purpose budgets. Manage supplier relationships, and budgets associated with projects.  Manage quality people practices Align own behaviour with the organisation culture and values. Share and transfer product, process and systems knowledge to colleagues and team members. Collaborate and work with the business to deliver required service levels. Actively share information with other team members regarding successes, issues, trends and ideas.  Leadership Effectiveness Role model client centric behaviour and demonstrates Management Leadership Effectiveness. Align others to best practice and set standards of excellence. Define performance parameters and measurements for area under supervision. Manage performance and service delivery through direct reports and their teams. Oversee selection, performance management and talent management in business area. Ensure effective talent management including succession planning; transformation per the BBBEE targets of the segment and national EAC (economically active population), skills development and training for a sustainable operating model and diverse high performing team. Enable a culture of continuous learning and development in the organisation. Drive and support change and culture shift initiatives.
