Job Fact Sheet Position: Medical Secretary Location: St. Joseph’s Hospital, London Start Date: As Soon As Possible Type of position: Full time position, private employee of the physician (not hospital position) Salary: will depend on experience and skill set Other staff members: one Clinical Assistant Seeking a punctual, hard-working, mature, conscientious, honest and well-organized candidate to work as Medical Secretary in a fast-paced surgical practice Job Description: Running the office: scheduling patient appointments, billing, booking surgeries and diagnostic testing. Maintaining patient medical records and telephone management. Using hospital software for all of the above (Cerner, IBIS etc.). Mission Statement: To provide the best possible care to our patients in an empathic, professional and efficient manner. Must haves: Excellent organizational & telephone phone management skills; oral and written communication skills are essential. Must be able to set priorities and complete tasks accurately. Responsibilities: Make and confirm appointments-daily Manage telephone calls-daily Manage electronic and paper mail-daily Dicta-typing- as needed Communicating with other physician offices - daily Billing & reconciliation - as needed Scheduling surgeries, tests, procedures - daily Completing insurance and other forms - as needed Managing surgery wait times - weekly Managing consult wait times- weekly Maintain confidential medical records - daily Filing, file management - daily Interaction with residents, students - as needed
