Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Operational Management: Oversee daily lodge operations, including front office, guest services, housekeeping, food & beverage, and maintenance. Work closely with the General Manager to implement policies and ensure operational efficiency with a focus on guest satisfaction and staff management. Guest Experience: Maintain 5-star standards to ensure exceptional guest experiences. Address guest complaints, special requests, and feedback promptly. Manage check-in/check-out processes and coordinate dining and activity arrangements. Staff Management: Assist in hiring, training, and managing lodge staff. Create staff schedules, oversee shift rotations, and conduct regular staff meetings. Ensure adherence to safety and service standards. Financial Management: Monitor budgets and expenses, assist with financial planning, and manage inventory and stock control. Ensure cost controls to maximize profitability while maintaining quality. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Oversee lodge security and safety procedures for guests and staff. Maintenance and Upkeep: Work with the maintenance team to ensure facilities and equipment are in excellent condition. Schedule and oversee preventative maintenance. Lodge Marketing & Sales Support: Support marketing initiatives to increase occupancy and revenue. Collaborate with the reservations and sales team to ensure smooth bookings and provide feedback on guest preferences. Conservation & Sustainability: Support the lodges conservation efforts and uphold sustainable practices. Coordinate guest activities related to the natural environment, including game drives and bush walks. Experience & Skills Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Hospitality or equivalent preferred but not essential. Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing high-end safari lodges. Professional demeanor, maturity, and excellent presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong passion for nature and lodge-related activities. Must have own transportation and a valid drivers license. Knowledgeable about wine and food. Exceptional skills in staff and guest relations. Ability to multitask, adapt to changing business needs, and think critically. Strong organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail. Experience in overseeing maintenance and ensuring high standards of lodge upkeep.
