Job Description

Position – CNC Machinist (Turner)

Location – Cramlington

Hourly Rate – Up to £19 per hour inclusive of shift allowance

Shifts – Continental shift pattern (No weekends)

About the company:

Theo James is delighted to be supporting a fantastic Machine Shop company based in Cramlington that is seeking its next CNC Machinist. They specialize in the design and manufacture of cable glands, cable cleats, and related products essential for electrical installations. Their products are widely used across industries such as oil and gas, power generation, and construction, ensuring safe and reliable connections in even the most challenging environments. They are renowned for our innovation, quality, and adherence to international standards.

Responsibilities

* Ensure all processes are completed in compliance with applicable Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

* Perform Programming, setting and operating duties as requested, meeting or exceeding target times.

* Create, read, edit, and optimise existing CNC programs to ensure quality and maximise output.

* Monitor tooling for wear and make necessary adjustments or replacements.

* Use a variety of measuring equipment to complete all inspection requirements according to Control Plan instructions.

* Identify and report non-conforming components, ensuring adherence to relevant SOPs.

* Accurately complete all system transactions related to your role.

* Maintain a high standard of housekeeping at all times.

* Conduct pre-shift and maintenance checks as required by the plant and equipment you operate.

Qualifications and Skills

* Experience in setting and programming one of the following control systems: Fanuc or Mori Seiki or similar controls

* Knowledge of working to tight tolerances and ability to interpret technical drawings.

* Proficiency in using a wide range of measuring equipment.

* Excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and self-motivation.

* Enthusiasm for the role and commitment to working safely, driving positive behaviour, and leading by example in accordance with the company’s health, safety, and environmental policies.

* Availability to work full-time on a permanent basis, averaging 37.5 hours per week on a shift rotation (10 x 12-hour shifts over a 21-day cycle, with 11 days off)
