Jury Assistant

About the Company:

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Support Grade Band 2 for up to 31st March 2025 with possible extension contract on a rate of £13.23 PAYE. Working hours Monday to Friday 9am – 4.30pm.

About the Role:

Responsibilities:

• Acting as liaison between Depute Clerks of Justiciary and jurors
• Administration of jurors (e.g. providing jurors with appropriate forms) and assist with DEPS enquiries, as far as possible.
• Daily check-in of sitting jurors
• Setting up Jury room (refreshments, paper, pens etc.).
• Leading Jurors to and from Court to Jury Room and ensuring that their attendance is secure within the Court or room.
• Setup stationery/document folders for arrival of new jury.
• Set out jury folders each morning and secure jury folders at the end of each sitting day.
• Accompanying Jurors to smoking areas at breaks and lunch hours.
• Ensuring Jurors are shown out of the building when Court concludes.
• Assisting in setting up screens/cameras for Vulnerable Witnesses as required.
• Retrieving and returning case papers from the Justiciary Office as required.
• Receiving, sorting and distributing external mail.
• Providing internal mail services by collecting and delivering mail from and to designated points.
• Reception duties dealing with all customers (solicitors, witnesses, jurors, parties etc.).
• Operating the main Reception switchboard, transferring calls and dealing with general enquiries.
• Deliver papers to Court/Chambers as required.
