Job Description

One To One Learning Support Assistant
Required for September 2024
Hoe Bridge School is seeking to appoint a dedicated One-to-One Learning Support Assistant to become a part of our friendly and supportive team. As one of our highly valued and experienced Learning Support Assistants or Higher Level Teaching Assistants, you will be someone dependable and trustworthy, responsible for providing one-to-one support to a pupil with an EHCP. You will help create a nurturing and engaging environment. This role is for 35 hours per week, and previous experience in a similar school-based role is preferred.
In this role, you will be expected to:
* To assist in promoting the learning and personal development of the pupil to whom you are assigned, to enable them to make best use of the educational opportunities available to them
* To aid the pupil to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on their own
* To use praise, commentary and assistance to encourage the pupil to concentrate and stay on task, providing additional nurture to the child
* To be able to provide emotional support when needed and adapt activities to help reduce levels of anxiety
* To monitor and support the overall progress and development of the pupil
* To plan, resource and deliver 1:1 intervention sessions focusing on the child’s specific targets under the guidance of the teacher and Head of Learning Support
* To undertake annual Performance Management, setting and agreeing targets linked to the school development plan and setting priorities with the Headmaster
* To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth
* To work in liaison and co-operation with both staff and parents
* To establish supportive relationships with the pupil concerned
* Monitor the pupil’s response to the learning activities and, where appropriate, modify or adapt the activities as agreed with the teacher to achieve the intended learning outcomes
* To give positive encouragement, feedback and praise to reinforce and sustain the pupil’s efforts and develop self-reliance and self-esteem
* To support the pupil in developing social skills both in and out of the classroom and be willing to support playground/break time supervision, for example educational games and clubs
