Full-time, Permanent

What is a Senior Product Development Technologist?

As a Senior Product Development Technologist, you will be accountable for scoping and delivering NPD and Innovation solutions that meet our customer needs to the agreed quality, cost and sustainability targets and are legally and regulatory compliant with the launch countries. You will be responsible for the effective line management for one development technologist and responsible for identifying and mitigating risks that may occur during the development and implementation stages and assure that these risks are effectively mitigated and managed throughout the project life cycle.

What to expect?

  • Assure robust scoping of all projects that you or your direct report are responsible for completing the product design and implementation of.
  • Assure that all product solutions are designed effectively to meet the customer requirements locked in the scoping stage which will include organoleptic, quality, legal & regulatory, stability and cost.
  • Complete sensory assessment prior to submission to the customer to assure that from an organoleptic perspective the products meet the agreed brief.
  • Work directly with customers when needed to achieve quick project turnaround.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate flavours for sample requests based on MOQ requirements, application, and cost parameters.
  • Modify flavour formulas as necessary to accommodate customers' requests.
  • Compound prototype samples and flavour systems for sample submission.
  • Assist in preparation and training provided to sales representatives and customers.
  • Identify and on board new raw material suppliers to meet customer needs as per the Prinova approval process working alongside formulation, regulatory and quality to assure full approval is completed in a timely manner.
  • Complete training for the broader team in beverage development.
  • Scope and lead trials at our internal manufacturing facility and with third party manufacturers to support product development.
  • Prepare for and attend first productions to assure that the manufacturing site is supported and any issues pertaining to the product can be dealt with effectively in a timely manner.
  • Custodian of some lab equipment which includes being responsible for SOP creation and training.

Travel:

This role involves up to 30% travel

Does this sound like you?

  • Proven experience in managing the technical workstream for NPD launches from scoping and alignment of the NPD brief through development and on to successful implementation at the manufacturing facility.
  • Exceptional communication skills and excellent collaborator who can effectively manage stakeholders of all levels.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Fully competent in creating development timelines and leading development workstreams.
  • Extensive project management experience competent in risk identification and management.
  • Ability to thrive when the pace and pressure builds, able to prioritise effectively.
  • A passion for developing self and others.
  • Educated to a degree level within a food or science based subject or related area along with minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in beverage product development.
  • Ideally with line management experience but not essential.
