Job Description
Force Contracting Services are a very well-established Civil Engineering Contractor based in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, specialising in Utilities (substations/power generation), Rail, Nuclear, & Property Development. We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Purchaser to join our team and ensure the timely procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
Responsibilities:
* Procurement of Materials & Equipment: Source and purchase construction materials, plant, and equipment required for civil engineering projects.
* Supplier Management: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating the best prices and delivery terms.
* Budget Control: Monitor procurement budgets to ensure cost-effective purchasing and reduce unnecessary spending.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure all purchased goods meet project specifications and industry standards.
* Inventory Management: Collaborate with project managers to maintain optimal stock levels and manage inventory.
* Documentation & Compliance: Manage purchasing records, including contracts, purchase orders, and invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
* Supplier Evaluation: Regularly evaluate supplier performance and explore opportunities for new suppliers to improve quality and pricing.
* Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with logistics and site teams to ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in procurement, preferably in the construction or civil engineering industry.
* Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record in securing cost-effective deals.
* Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and supply chains.
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.).
* A degree or diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
