Job Description

Portfield School is an incredibly unique and specialist education provision that exists to support children aged 4-19 in a personalised and supportive environment in which allows our students to be the best they can be.

We are looking for a specialist Food & Nutrition Lead to join us and drive our healthy eating plans forwards! This role would suit someone enthusiastic about nutrition, empowering our sixth form students to lead a healthy lifestyle and be eager to experiment with food and flavour. You would support our students through the process from planning, shopping, budgeting, meal prep and cooking a variety of dishes.



​You do not need to be a qualified teacher for this role, however a background in catering is essential.



Hours of work:

This role is working full time, 39 hours per week, term time only.

You would be based at our sixth form in Christchurch and work 1 day per week at Portfield School.

Monday - 08:30am - 5pm

Tuesday - 07:30am - 4:30pm

Wednesday - 07:30am - 3:30pm

Thursday - 07:30am - 3:30pm

Friday - 07:30am - 3:30pm





Your day as a Food & Nutrition Lead's would include:

* Leading the school food and nutrition programme, including the developing a curriculum that empowers our students to have a healthy relationship with food

* Deliver individualised and engaging lessons, helping students develop their culinary skills and knowledge

* Oversee our school cook and kitchen, ensuring hygiene standards are adhered to and a variety of meals are served in line with School Food Guidelines

* Support the Sixth Form students to plan, shop, budget and meal prep

* Inspiring our students to become creative with food and create a variety of dishes

* Working with our multi-disciplinary therapy team to implement a healthy eating plan across the whole school

* support our students to cater for events internally, with a view to provide catering externally aswell

* Support with long term goals such as paid employment within catering or hospitality, further college courses etc
