Safety Lead

As part of our continued growth plans, we are looking to expand our permanent Safety Engineering Team with a Team Lead. We are a leading professional engineering service who achieve excellence for commercial and defence organisations by generating viable, proactive and value-added asset management solutions.


As the Safety Lead, you will guide candidates would be joining the team to provide support to the civil and MoD environment. Their principal support activity would include the generation of Safety Case documentation.


Key Responsibilities

Provision of Systems Safety & Environmental capability to the Aerospace and Defence industries, with marine experience preferred. Working with our customers to determine the scope of work and skills required to deliver against customer schedules.


The following activities are an integral part of the role in delivering Product Safety / Functional Safety Engineering tasks:

  • Identify tasks from the customer Level 0 plan and determine the KDC scope of work. Report progress to the same.
  • The Safety Engineering analysis and decomposition of Major System level Functional Safety and Local Hazard to the Individual (LHI) / Physical Hazards Safety requirements (e.g. policies, general technical requirements, Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs) etc.).
  • The approval of (Product Safety aspects of) Technical Specifications, and System Design Descriptions.
  • Adhere to and meet the customer Safety Management Plan.
  • Working with customer engineers and Major Systems Suppliers to analyse hazards associated with the given domain and develop the necessary design solutions to mitigate them or confirm gap analysis and determine Residual Risk for Technical Authority review.
  • Be skilled in the identification of hazards, production of hazard logs and safety cases in accordance with DEF STAN 00-056 to meet the regulatory requirements of DSA02.
  • Prepare Safety and Environmental Working Group Reports IAW MOD Information Management Policy (JSP 441)
  • Producing Declarations of Conformity.
  • Be familiar with product and functional requirements & means of acceptance and how they influence the safety aspects of a given system.
  • Preparation of safety plans and/or justifications
