Job Summary

The Laboratory for Genomics Research (LGR) is a collaborative effort between UCSF, UC Berkeley, and GSK. The LGR is focused on scaling up current and next-generation functional genomics platforms to better understand the genetic basis of diseases. The LGR strives to build advanced CRISPR-based genome editing and functional genomics platforms empowered by human genetics and computational biology to discover novel drug targets, expand our understanding of the human genome across various disease contexts, and deliver innovative tools to accelerate functional genomics research across academia and industry. Explore our research at http://www.lgr.bio/projects.

The Staff Research Associate 3 will be working in the Laboratory for Genomics Research (LGR) which is a new functional genomics center in which scientists use CRISPR/Cas9-based functional genomics tools to decipher biological functions of genes, identifying new drug targets and developing new technologies that will advance discovery in both academia and industry. In this position, they will be an integral member of a research team developing and implementing the next generation of CRISPR screening tools in human cell models to investigate the underlying causes of human disease biology and identify potential drug targets. The incumbent responsibilities may include culturing and maintaining human cell culture lines, performing flow cytometry and microscopy, both performing standard molecular biology techniques as well as making innovative contributions to laboratory and/or field experimental procedures, implementing automation protocols, performing basic statistical calculations, and other duties as assigned. Alternatively, the responsibilities may include onboarding and development of molecular biology technologies to develop new methods of sequencing sample preparation and/or supporting enabling technologies including scRNA-seq, high content imaging, and automation-enabled pooled and arrayed screening. Some time will be spent performing literature reviews and attending and presenting at lab meetings/journal club meetings. Multiple openings are available.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
