Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description
Role Overview:
We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our controls department team, working on intralogistics projects involving hardware and software engineers. The role will focus on designing control cabinets and field installations using EPLAN Pro Panel and AutoCAD LT, ensuring the smooth delivery of tight project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Electrical Design: Create schematic drawings, work with EN(phone number removed) standards, and handle device layout in EPLAN.
* Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of Safety Regulations and Machinery Directives (UK/EU), along with relevant standards (EN (phone number removed), EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 13849).
* Automation Systems: Experience with VFDs, Servo systems, Industrial networks, and decentralised IO systems.
* Component Selection: Specify electrical components for UK, EU, and international applications.
* Project Execution: Budgeting, power calculations, and working with external suppliers.
* Design Review & Approval: Conduct design reviews, solve engineering problems, and sign off on designs.
* Site Integration: Oversee electrical builds at the factory, resolve site queries, and ensure smooth on-site operations.
Workplace Experience:
* Automation Expertise: Extensive knowledge of Siemens or Allen Bradley control systems, PROFINET/EtherNET/IP networks, SEW inverters, and safety system architecture (SISTEMA).
* Industrial Control Systems: Experience working on projects valued from £80k to £30M+ in an industrial setting.
* LV System Design: Proficient in control wiring, voltage drop calculations, and PLC systems.
Industry Background:
* Experience in logistics warehousing, distribution centres, or material handling equipment preferred. Other industrial sectors will be considered.
Qualifications:
* Electrical-biased apprenticeship or HND in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of design experience.
* Proven performance across multiple high-value projects.
Personal Attributes:
* Strong organizational skills to manage priorities across multiple projects.
* Ability to mentor apprentices, solve engineering challenges, and deliver innovative solutions.
* Commercial awareness and excellent communication skills
