Senior Regional HR Manager

MacGregor Black are partnering with a Consumer Products business, on the search for an Senior Regional HR Manager. This is a FTC (6-12month) role based in Manchester.


We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Regional Senior HR Manager (Interim) to join our leadership team. This pivotal role will lead the HR function across multiple sites within our growing consumer products business, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals during a period of transformational change.


You will work closely with site-level HR Managers, the senior leadership team, and operational stakeholders to drive cultural change, improve HR processes, and strengthen relationships with unions. With significant experience in manufacturing and operational environments, you will play a key role in enhancing workforce engagement, building capability across the HR function, and supporting organisational growth.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the HR function across several sites, ensuring consistent implementation of HR policies and initiatives.
  • Translate corporate transformational change directives into actionable HR strategies and processes at the site level.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing HR insights and solutions that support operational objectives.
  • Drive and oversee significant cultural and operational transformation projects across the business.
  • Engage with employees at all levels to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to embed new ways of working and improve overall employee engagement.
  • Upskill and mentor HR Managers at each site to enhance their capability in handling operational HR issues, policy implementation, and strategic initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing HR community across all sites, encouraging best practice sharing and consistent HR delivery.
  • Lead union negotiations and manage industrial relations issues to ensure a constructive and productive working environment.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with union representatives, balancing business needs with employee rights and interests.
  • Bring extensive experience in HR within manufacturing and operational settings, ensuring that HR initiatives are aligned with business priorities, such as productivity, cost management, and workforce efficiency.
  • Ensure legal compliance in all areas of employment law, while proactively addressing risks related to employee relations and workforce planning.


What we are looking for?


  • Proven track record as a senior HR professional, with significant experience in a manufacturing or operational environment.
  • Extensive experience in leading HR teams across multiple sites, ideally within a unionised workforce.
  • Strong expertise in change management, culture transformation, and improving employee engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with senior management teams to align HR with business strategy.
  • Experience in union negotiations and a deep understanding of employee relations within an industrial environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, engage, and manage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (CIPD qualification or equivalent preferred).
  • Extensive experience in a senior HR leadership role within food manufacturing or a similar industrial sector.


The role will be based in the North of England and will require travel between various operational sites.
