JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician

LOCATION: Bristol, near Temple Meads (BS2 0RA) - Office-based position

CONTRACT: Permanent - Full time (Mon-Fri)

SALARY: £Competitive + plus bonus (up to £3,200 per annum)

THE JOB

The Maintenance Technician reports to the Senior Production Engineer and will be based out of the engineering workshop. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring production equipment is present and in a serviceable condition to prevent down time in the factory and, where there is downtime, ensuring it is minimised as quickly and efficiently as possible. This will include conducting periodic maintenance checks, performing equipment upgrades and machinery modifications, identifying faults, investigating equipment breakdowns and monitoring the performance of equipment after repairs have been carried out. Where equipment has service contracts with external parties, there will be a requirement to coordinate and monitor these parties when on site and assist them with activities


The Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely installing and commissioning new equipment, liaising with production engineers and production supervisors to ensure production downtime is minimised and the new equipment is operating effectively as quickly as possible. Where appropriate there may be a requirement for training to be delivered to operators by the Maintenance Technician.


As well as maintaining the equipment on site the Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining site facilities, working with the on-site handyman and facilities coordinator. The Maintenance Technician will fix minor plumbing, electrical and other facilities breakdowns. Any items outside their abilities need to be escalated, so they can be dealt with by external parties where necessary.


MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensuring all systems, procedures and working practices in the areas of responsibility are strictly in accordance with Health and Safety/COSHH regulations and company operating procedures.
  • Ensuring the continued operation of production machinery and equipment by completing preventive maintenance and repair defined by the system schedule and following the equipment manufacturer's instructions and manuals.
  • Maintaining service records on the company systems for all work performed on equipment, be it internal and external or planned and preventive.
  • Identify breakdown root causes and implementing remedial actions.
  • Installing and uninstalling machinery.
  • Advising on maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Supervising external maintenance sub-contractors and ensuring appropriate H&S procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensuring all production machinery and equipment runs consistently within process parameters.
  • Controlling equipment and facilities spare parts and ensuring items are managed through company ERP system inventory.
  • Advising on new equipment purchases.
  • Assisting in engineering projects when required.
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of Factory layouts.
  • General maintenance of site facilities – whatever is required within the offices and factory.
  • Maintaining and repairing internal facilities.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Be qualified to HNC/HND in a maintenance relevant subject.
  • Have experience of Mechanical and Electrical machine maintenance.
  • 5+ years’ experience in an industrial like environment
  • Knowledge of PPM systems and the upkeep of records
  • Be committed to improving the company’s standards by driving the preventative maintenance programme.
  • Knowledge and experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, panel and building wiring systems.
  • Be enthusiastic and willing to work to high quality standards.
  • Ideally be 17th/18th Edition electrically trained.
  • Be able to work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Be neat and methodical in their work.
  • Prior experience working at heights/comfortable with heights.
  • Possess good communication skills.
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • PLC programming and fault-finding experience would be an advantage
  • A forklift license would be advantageous
