Estimator/Senior Estimator - Restoration/Heritage Main Contractor - Vauxhall, London

A leading restoration and conservation specialist in London and the South East of England is seeking an Estimator/Senior Estimator.

Known for working on some of the UK’s most notable landmarks, including Grade-listed buildings, scheduled monuments, World Heritage Sites, parochial churches, and country estates, the company is renowned for its high-quality workmanship and dedication to preserving historic structures. Estimator Role Overview:

The Estimator/Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, managing tender submissions, and contributing to the overall growth of the company by securing profitable projects. This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage all aspects of the estimating process, work closely with project teams, and provide leadership to junior estimators.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage accurate records of tender and contract documents.
Prepare detailed bills of quantities and work schedules for accurate pricing.
Compile tender comparisons and present tenders at settlement meetings with a comprehensive knowledge of the best approach to be taken.
Offer advice on risk and value engineering options.
Work closely with supply chains to ensure competitive tenders.
Contribute to database tenders for historical data, average rates, and supply chain information.
Develop and maintain relationships with consultants and clients.
Maximise efficiency of services, utilising all resources in conjunction with Project Managers, and identify problems, taking the relevant action to resolve them.
Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates, including materials, labour, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to fully understand project requirements.
Prepare comprehensive bid packages, cost reports, and supporting documentation for presentation to clients and stakeholders.
Review and evaluate subcontractor bids, ensuring alignment with project goals and budget constraints.
Monitor and update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle to reflect any scope changes, material price fluctuations, or unforeseen circumstances.
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior estimators, reviewing their work and offering guidance on estimating best practices.
Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client presentations as required to support the accuracy of estimates and project proposals.
Work closely with procurement, operations, and finance teams to ensure alignment between estimates and project execution. What we are looking for?

Bachelor's degree in construction or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on large or complex projects, particularly within the Heritage sector.
Proficiency in estimating software and other construction management tools.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry standards.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to present information clearly to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Proven experience in Historic, Listed Building, Graded Building, Building Restoration, Heritage, Conservation, Stonework, or Brickwork Projects.
Proficient in Microsoft products and strong organisational skills.
Full driving license required. In return?
