Job Description

Our Fife based client require a Residential Child Care Worker to join their well established team.

Your key duties and responsibilities will include:

To provide emotional and physical safety for children
To develop nurturing relationships with children that are based on acceptance and understanding.
To provide comfort and co-regulation, eliciting care from positive attachments and meaningful relationships.
To show genuine empathy and be attuned to the needs of the children in our care
To connect with the child's feelings and offer them a sense of belonging.
To create an environment that builds resilience in children and strengthens their self-esteem and sense of identity.
To manage pain based behaviour in a non-confrontational manner remaining calm and available to the child in distress.
To embed the Health and Social Care Standards into operational practice and ensure the highest standard of care and protection is provided.
To advocate on the behalf of children and ensure their rights are upheld
Ensure that risk assessments are followed and the children are provided with consistent routines and boundaries.
To work as part of a team and share workloads and professional tasks. To attend team meetings and play an active role in improvement planning.
To undertake recording tasks in relation to the child, including daily observations, medical entries, confidential logs, incident sheets, care planning documentation, assessment documents, reports, and all other relevant documents
To work in partnership with education, health, therapeutic services, stakeholders, parents and carers, to achieve the agreed outcomes for the children in our care.
To undertake key-working responsibilities and attend regular focus groups on the child and take forward any agreed action.
To work in partnership with the education staff to develop integrated plans to support young people within the 24-hour curriculum.
To actively engage young people in activities and hobbies linked to their care plan and give them a sense of fun.
To work in partnership with the therapeutic team and utilise their guidance and knowledge in terms of developing strategies and focussed interventions for young people.To be suitable for this challenging and rewarding role you will have the following education /qualifications:

HNC in Social Care
Social Services (Children and Young people) SVQ Level 3
Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) SVQ Level 3.Candidates who have not reached this standard must make a commitment to do so within the regulations set by the SSSC.

You will have the following key skills and experience:

Experience of providing care, support and guidance to children and vulnerable young people with complex needs
Previous experience of working with children and young people who present significant difficulties and challenges
Ability to form meaningful relationships with children and young people and understand their difficulties and presenting behaviour.
Ability to work in a therapeutic way and encourage and support children and young people to reach their full potential
Effective communication and ability to work in partnership with other colleagues and external professionals
Ability to undertake care planning tasks and write good comprehensive reports and GIRFEC documentation
Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
In return you will receive a competitive salary of £25-£31k (Depending on level of experience) + benefits. You must be able to work on a shift basis and overtime is available.
