Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Engineer to join a team in the Water Utilities sector. The Site Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of water infrastructure projects, from initial planning to final delivery. As a Site Engineer, you will oversee on-site activities, provide technical support to project teams, and ensure all work meets industry standards and regulations. The Site Engineer will be responsible for monitoring quality, ensuring health and safety compliance, and managing stakeholder relationships. In this role, the Site Engineer will also be tasked with problem-solving and providing solutions to technical challenges. The ideal Site Engineer will have a strong background in civil engineering and experience working on water utility projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Supervision:

Oversee the day-to-day site activities, including excavation, pipe laying, and installation of water supply and drainage systems.

Technical Support:

Provide engineering support to site teams, interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Quality Control:

Monitor and inspect the quality of workmanship, materials, and compliance with engineering standards and project specifications.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Ensure all work is performed in accordance with health and safety regulations, including conducting risk assessments and ensuring safety briefings are delivered.

Stakeholder Coordination:

Liaise with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth workflow and timely project delivery.

Surveying & Setting Out:

Perform surveying tasks and set out the works according to the project design.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate site records, prepare progress reports, and document any deviations from the design.

Problem Solving:

Address technical challenges and provide solutions to onsite issues to prevent delays and ensure project efficiency.

Environmental Considerations:

Ensure all operations are carried out with minimal environmental impact and in line with regulatory requirements.

Cost Management:

Monitor project costs, manage resources efficiently, and assist in ensuring project stays within budget.

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience working as a Site Engineer in water utilities or a similar field.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of water distribution, drainage systems, and associated construction techniques.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with water utility regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.

Skills:

Proficiency in surveying and setting out equipment (e.g., Total Station, GPS).

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage site challenges.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Good communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with various stakeholders.

Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and project management software.

Certifications: CSCS card and a valid UK driving license are required. Additional certifications in health and safety (e.g., SMSTS, First Aid) are desirable
