We are also proud to be named Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures for 2023 Learn more at shn.ca Job Description: Position Overview: Reporting to the Manager of Child and Adolescent Mental Health the applicant’s primary responsibility will be to provide assessment, time limited counselling and discharge transitioning for children, youth and their families who are receiving services from the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit or the Child and Adolescent Day Hospital. Requirements: • Graduate of a recognized Master of Social Work program • Membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. • Minimum 2 years recent experience in Child and Adolescent mental health setting, including experience working in a children’s/youth inpatient and outpatient mental health services. • In-depth knowledge and expertise with children and adolescents who experience serious mental illness • Demonstrated experience with assessment, crisis intervention, and goal-oriented, solution-focused therapy techniques with children and adolescents • Well-developed skills in conducting psycho-social assessments for youth experience mental health problems and experience working with their families • Knowledge of community resources and application of the Mental Health Act • Demonstrated knowledge of recovery model principles, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour therapy with youth • Experience in developing and facilitating groups • Excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills • Proven ability as an effective member of the inter-disciplinary team • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment SHN’s safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public Accommodation and Diversity Statement: Scarborough Health Network (SHN) embraces and celebrates our community’s unique multicultural heritage and diversity.
