The status of this position is: INDETERMINATE This position is 1.0 PY (full-time position). Located in the picturesque hamlet of Gjoa Haven, Qiqirtaq High School serves the community of Gjoa Haven. The school has a population of approximately 180 students in a 7-12 setting with a staff of 24. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture. Required qualifications: Must be bilingual in English and Inuktitut Candidate must be eligible for Nunavut Teaching Certificate as a Language Specialist Desired qualifications: Subject, knowledge, training and experience relevant to the assignment Experience and / or training with current assessment methods Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices Experience and / or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (eg. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports, etc.) Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience Evidence of training and / or experience in the area of Balanced Literacy at the elementary level Training and / or teaching experience in an English Language Learner (ELL) environment Evidence / experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders Please note: Subsidized housing is not available. The salary for an Aboriginal Language Certificate holder ranges from $69,659 prorated/annum. to $84,073 prorated/annum. The Northern Allowance for Gjoa Haven is $26,345 prorated/annum.
