Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

Tax Accountant

Prepare federal and state tax returns while complying with tax laws, provide assistance for financial statement reports, and research opportunities to save taxes. Prepare quarterly excise tax return and reconcile the payment and export tax credit/refund. This position involves accurately and punctually file the tax returns, avoid penalties, and specialize in tax data collecting, analyzing, and calculating.

Major Areas of Accountability

  1. Prepare and file Federal Corporation/Partnership Tax Returns and State Income/Franchise Tax Returns for several entities in different States. Resolve any technical and e-filing problems related to the tax software.
  2. Prepare quarterly excise tax return and claim export tax credits.
  3. Compile business data from each plant for tax apportionment & allocation.
  4. Estimate federal and state quarterly tax payments and make the payments on time to avoid any interest and late filing penalties.
  5. Perform annual tax provisions, true-up and tax disclosures in financial reports to ensure compliance of IAS 12 and uncertainty tax position.
  6. Stay up-to-date on any regulation updates to ensure tax compliance and increase the opportunities to save tax.
  7. File annual report for all entities.
  8. Maintain tax data intact in working papers and electronic files.
  9. Provide federal and state tax audit assistance.
  10. Assist tax projects as assigned.
  11. Perform international tax calculation, such as global intangible low-taxed income (GILTI) and foreign-derived intangible income (FDII).
Qualifications

Technical Job Criteria
  1. Minimum one year of experience in accounting or taxation
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Professional
  3. Good communication skills both in oral and writing
  4. Familiar with corptax and/or AS 400 is preferred
  5. B.S. in Accounting or Taxation
  6. CPA preferred.
  7. Minimal travel requirements.
  8. Must have regular, reliable attendance as well as the ability to work outside the regular schedule as required.
