Job Description
Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor – Site Management for Floor Painting Project
Location: Southampton
Duration: 1 Month (Starting Next Monday)
Pay Rate: £260-£280 per day
Overview: We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to oversee and manage health and safety compliance for a floor painting project in Southampton. This is a one-month contract role, starting next Monday, with a daily rate of £260-£280. The ideal candidate will ensure the smooth and safe execution of site activities, with a focus on risk mitigation and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct daily health and safety inspections to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company standards.
* Provide on-site health and safety advice and support to ensure safe working practices, particularly regarding hazardous substances and floor painting activities.
* Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement control measures to minimize risks to workers and contractors.
* Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations related to the materials and substances used in the painting process.
* Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all on-site activities.
* Monitor and enforce the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
* Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks with the workforce to highlight health and safety expectations.
* Investigate and report any incidents, near-misses, or accidents that occur on-site.
* Liaise with site management, contractors, and external parties to ensure health and safety requirements are met throughout the project.
* Maintain accurate health and safety documentation and ensure that records are up to date.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a Health and Safety Advisor role, preferably within construction or industrial painting environments.
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
* Strong knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, particularly COSHH.
* Experience managing health and safety on-site, including conducting risk assessments and writing method statements.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and enforce safety standards.
* Ability to start next Monday and commit to the full one-month duration in Southampton
