Who You Are

• Significant experience in pest control within a commercial operation or local authority.


• Knowledge of legal requirements and safe, appropriate use of pesticides.


• Sound understanding of health and safety legislation.


• Royal Society of Health Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Pest Management or British Pest Control Association Part 2 Advanced Diploma or equivalent.


• A full, clean driving licence and the ability to operate a council vehicle.


• Willingness to undergo CRB checks and necessary vaccinations due to exposure to pests.


• Ability to lift, carry, handle, and use equipment in pest control work, with mobility to access restricted spaces.


• Customer-focused, able to build relationships, and communicate effectively.


• Professional, ethical, and committed to delivering high standards of service.

What the Job Involves

• Survey, identify, and eradicate pests in Council Housing stock and other council properties.


• Promote and service pest control contracts with schools, businesses, and other council clients to maximize income.


• Respond to service requests from residents for pest control treatments and complete visits as per schedule.


• Provide expert advice on pest prevention and safety precautions, involving liaising with clients and relevant council services.


• Handle supervisory responsibilities, including training colleagues and reviewing health and safety risk assessments.


• Maintain records of materials and equipment, manage administrative systems, and ensure proper documentation of pesticides used.


• Participate in team meetings, assist with health and safety audits, and attend relevant training courses.


• Promote the service to increase contract scope and council income.


• Ensure the safe storage, preparation, use, and disposal of poisons and killed animals.


• Operate mobile technology to manage caseload, complete forms, and take payments.
