Preconstruction Manager -About the job:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Preconstruction Manager to join our EV infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the pre-construction phase of EV infrastructure projects with a particular focus on health and safety planning, street works liaison, wayleaves, consents and DNO/iDNO liaison. This role demands a strong understanding of construction processes, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder management.


Preconstruction ManagerKey Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction Planning:

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop detailed pre-construction plans.
  • Attend site surveys and arrange intrusive early works surveys.
  • Review and approve project designs, schedules, and budgets.
  • Identify potential issues and develop solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Liaison with internal Street Works Manager
  • Management of conceptual design to construction design process.
  • Ensure all pre-construction activities are completed on time and within budget.

Health and Safety Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety plans for pre-construction activities.
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations and standards are met.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with health and safety officers and ensure safety protocols are followed on all sites.
  • Authoring and collating of PCIP, CPP and RAMS.

Street Works Liaison:

  • Act as the primary contact for all street works activities related to EV infrastructure projects.
  • Liaise with local authorities, utility companies, and contractors to coordinate street works.
  • Ensure all street works are planned and executed in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Manage traffic management plans and minimise disruption to the public.

Wayleaves and Consents:

  • Secure necessary wayleaves, easements, and other legal consents for project sites.
  • Negotiate with landowners, public bodies, and other stakeholders to obtain required permissions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all wayleaves and consents.
  • Ensure all consents are obtained in a timely manner to meet project deadlines.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ensure all pre-construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation to regulatory authorities.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure ongoing compliance.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate project progress, issues, and solutions to stakeholders.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure satisfaction including implementation of our Customer Experience Roadmap.


Preconstruction ManagerQualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in pre-construction management, with a focus on health and safety planning, street works liaison, wayleaves, and consents.
  • Strong knowledge of EV infrastructure or similar scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of managing pre-construction activities and securing necessary consents.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
