The City of London Corporation is a small borough which consists of the square mile. Children’s Social Care sits within the People’s division where we carry out all Local Authority functions. This is an exciting opportunity for you to develop as part of a small, tight knit team which covers the area of the City of London and works with services and organisations across the country. We’re a generic social care team which covers MASH and the full range of cases including Child in Need, Children with Disabilities, Looked After Children/Care Leavers, Private fostering, and Court work. This means that you will hold case responsibility for a child & family for the entirety of their involvement in our service, allowing you to have greater impact and form deep and meaningful relationships.

Working as part of an OFSTED Graded ‘Outstanding’ Service, you will have the opportunity to develop your practice through a range of learning and development opportunities. The City of London Children’s Services have a strong focus on relationship-based practice and Systemic Social Work. We are looking for a collaborative and experienced enthusiastic social worker, who is passionate about safeguarding in social care. The post holder must be able to evidence strengths-based practice that truly promotes independence. This role requires a relentless focus on supporting and improving the experiences of children and an understanding of effective methodologies, approaches and frameworks that enable this. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed assessment and child protection skills. With the ability to make professional judgements and recommendations based on the presenting needs and act accordingly. The worker will need to have excellent skills in relationship building, report writing, teamwork, organisation and communication with the ability to respond to familial conflict. 

Requirements of the role: 

• Must hold a professional social work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or CSS as relevant).
• Must have a current registration as a Social Worker with Social Work England. 
• Evidence of significant post-qualifying development and extensive evidence of CPD.
• Must have a qualification in Systemic Social Work training and or be willing to undertake the training.
• Extensive post-qualifying experience.
• Understanding of the key current policy directives for children’s social care, including detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and experience of applying it in complex settings.
• Provide strong and effective social work practice within Children’s Social Care and a proven ability to provide vision and support to families.
• Experience of engaging in high quality reflective supervision and using this space, learning and commitment to inform effective change.
