Job Description

Our client, a leader in advanced electric motor solutions for passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, and future transport technologies, is currently seeking an Engineering Director. The successful candidate will manage and oversee engineering functions, ensuring designs meet all customer, industry, legal, and internal requirements.


The Engineering Director will:

  • Provide technical leadership in all areas of in-wheel motor and inverter technology.
  • Manage the intellectual property portfolio of over 320 active patents and support the company in pro-actively identifying areas of future patent protection.
  • Support the organisation in developing and managing systems and procedures to drive Product Development excellence.
  • Guide the functional management team and support it to deliver projects.
  • Support project management in the scoping and resourcing of projects and provide an escalation route for inter-function conflict.


The Engineering Director will have:

  • Degree in Engineering or another numerate subject.
  • Experience within the Automotive sector (Product Development and/or Launch) in a start-up and growth-oriented business environment known for its excellence.
  • Experience in e-machine and/or inverter design and development from concept through to launch.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering a quality product to a demanding customer.
  • Significant experience in automotive Tier 1 Product Engineering functions.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, including external ones.
