Job Description

EHS professional who applies established EHS principles, practices, regulations and internal standards, interacts with customers and is solutions-minded in completing EHS assignments.
Responsible for compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures, project management, air and water permit application preparation, periodic regulatory reporting, independently plans and conducts assigned projects, manages multiple projects and meets deadlines, facilitates the definition of a project scope with stakeholders, develops schedules and seeks concurrence from stakeholders, responsible for achieving project targets and deliverables, applies technical knowledge/skills to EHS programs and systems, anticipates future business/EHS needs and develops new skills as appropriate."

Project Management:

Plans and conducts assigned projects requiring conventional types of plans, investigations, and/or equipment;
Implements plans under direction of others and reports to management with appropriate frequency;
Jointly responsible for achieving the project’s EHS targets in support of business objectives.

Technical:

Applies basic technical knowledge/skills to EHS programs and systems.
Participates and/or assists other professionals and management in the application of standard EHS theories, concepts, and techniques.
Investigates, gathers data, and performs preliminary analysis. Reports findings.
Prepares and communicates recommendations and respective action plans.
Maintains accurate, complete recordkeeping systems & maintains employee confidentiality.

Problem Solving / Innovation:

Interprets problems/recommends solutions.
Applies standard EHS principles and methodologies to interpret, draw conclusions, and recommend options for defined problems;
Considers a broad range of factors (e.g. quantifies cost and benefits in assigned projects);
Assures conformance to regulatory requirements and internal standards.
Improves methods/designs/processes.
Recognizes and implements good ideas/innovations/cost reductions;
Consistently generates/adopts original solutions to problems and reduces them to practices.

Organizational Interface:

Interfaces primarily with internal company contacts.
Prepares written communication.
Conveys information effectively through formal and informal documents and meetings with team members.
Obtains approval to proceed with proposed action plans.
Establishes networks.
Establish and build relationships, good communication and ensure customer satisfaction.
Initiates and cultivates open, professional relationships with stakeholders by establishing rapport, developing an understanding of others’ needs, promoting common goals, and following through on commitments.
Identifies full range of stakeholder needs and proposes solutions to address them.

Compliance:

Supports compliance with all applicable regulations and internal standards.
Stays current on applicable EHS regulations.
Develops understanding of internal standards.
Generates EHS performance data. Responsible for achieving or contributing towards EHS targets.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assists in development and revisions of procedures and standards.
Coordinates with technical support personnel to conduct EHS assessments.
Directs the efforts of others such as technicians and outside resources.
Performs tasks such as assisting in the completion of Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs), EHS checklists, project scope documents, risk assessments, etc.
Provides training.



Requirements:

A Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, Engineering, science, or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence.
Zero to two years of experience is typical for this position.
Previous internship experience preferred.
Skills: Project management, technical and regulatory problem solving, compliance support, communication, anticipates, and delivers results
Demonstrates baseline understanding and practice of behaviors outlined in the client Competency Cluster.
Works under supervision of more experienced EHS professionals who review results for overall accuracy, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment.
Responsible for meeting established objectives and goals.
Drives functional performance that ensures EHS standards, and regulatory compliance are met.
