In House Contracts Lawyer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced in-house commercial contracts lawyer to support its firmwide procurement service. Based in either Leeds or Manchester, the role offers a flexible, hybrid working model. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our Procurement team, the Office of the General Counsel, Information Security team, business stakeholders, and senior management to review, draft, and negotiate a wide array of commercial supplier agreements. This includes ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, performing due diligence, managing risks, and advising on the commercial and legal aspects of contracts.

Our Procurement team is recognized for its strategic sourcing and emphasis on building long-term, collaborative relationships with suppliers. The role presents an opportunity to engage in local and international contracts, risk management, and contribute to the team's strategic development. Responsibilities extend to updating supplier agreements in line with changing requirements, training the Procurement team on new legislation, managing contract templates, and enhancing service delivery through innovation and compliance.

Candidates should have at least one year of post-qualification experience in commercial contracts within a procurement setting, strong drafting and negotiation skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to communicate complex contractual terms effectively. Experience with data protection, IT contracts, and intellectual property issues in procurement contracts is desirable.
