Title: Managing Director, UK

Location: Hampshire, South Coast

Compensation: Six figure salary, bonus and car allowance

Sector: B2B2C, B2B and B2B sales, marketing and distribution through retail and e- commerce


A highly reputable distributor of equipment, accessories and apparel, our client has a long track record of success based on knowledge and expertise, quality and diversity of product. Under new ownership, the global parent company believes that there is a significant opportunity for growth with a new, commercially minded, marketing orientated approach to leadership.


The position will be responsible for the overall performance of the UK business with full P&L accountability.


Key responsibilities:


  • Define and deliver on the UK growth strategy in keeping with overall group objectives.
  • Full financial P&L responsibility for the UK market.
  • Provide strong and effective leadership to a fully functional team with a strong emphasis on sales, marketing and operations.
  • Work with marketing and sales to create, define and deliver an effective digital and traditional marketing strategy to drive sales for new and existing products through retail partnership and e-commerce.
  • Inspire, drive and develop a high-performing team. Ensure team members are coached and mentored to achieve to the best of their abilities.
  • Shoulder risk, recognise success and ensure that it is shared across the team.
  • Where necessary – take decisive action on management change.
  • Set and manage budgets, ensuring the appropriate allocation of investment and resources whilst ensuring yearly sales and profitability targets are met.
  • Develop good internal relationships with other business units within the wider group to share best business practice and knowledge.
  • Work closely with sales, developing and ensuring robust relationships with key suppliers and accounts, ensuring that profitable, mutually beneficial relationships are sought and cemented at the appropriate level.
  • Create an environment where there are consistent and efficient business processes.
  • Maintain a high level of quality with all customer touch points - whether delivering services, creating new offerings or communicating with clients.
  • Keep abreast of competitor activity and ensure broader awareness of changes in the market and developments in the industry.


Education

  • Graduate calibre with continued and additional education deemed complimentary to the position.


Languages

  • English (other European languages an advantage).


Professional experience / competencies

  • 15+ years commercial experience in a B2B2C or B2C industry with a track record of growing/managing a significant P&L (at least £20M+).
  • Solid background experience of B2B2C or B2C retail/distribution business models.
  • This leader must be a change agent who can lead the company into new product categories.
  • He/she must have a growth mindset and experience of managing a fully functional team and P&L.
  • Proven track record in delivering results and exceeding revenue and profitability objectives.
  • He/she should be operationally strong with strong marketing and brand building credentials and be a proven business builder.
  • Instant credibility and proven client development and management ability at the account level.
  • Strong management and leadership credentials who can coach/mentor sub-ordinates; is decisive and can work in multi-cultural environment
  • This leader will have the executive standing necessary to operate at the most senior levels.
  • Has the potential to grow into bigger leadership roles.
