Automation and Instrumentation Design Engineer

We are seeking a talented and experienced Automation and Instrumentation Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing automation systems and instrumentation solutions for a range of projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects and contribute to advancements in automation technology. Key Responsibilities: System Design: Design and develop automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and DCS. Create detailed instrumentation and control system designs, including wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and system architecture. Instrumentation: Specify, select, and design instrumentation for process measurement and control. Ensure instrumentation meets project requirements and industry standards. Integration: Oversee the integration of automation systems with existing processes and equipment. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to ensure seamless system functionality. Configuration and Programming: Configure and program automation hardware and software. Develop and implement control strategies to optimize system performance. Testing and Commissioning: Conduct system testing, validation, and commissioning. Troubleshoot and resolve issues during installation and startup phases. Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, control narratives, and operational procedures. Provide technical support and training to end-users. Compliance: Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements. Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in automation and instrumentation. Project Management: Support project planning and execution, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management. Monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery of milestones. System Experience and Background Requirements: Gain and implement knowledge on ABB products focused on Drives, Instrumentation and Automation so as to technically support departments and customers in design, development and implementation. Knowledge and competency in the fields of instrumentation and drive fault finding, implementation, design and commissioning. Electrical Hardware and software design, development, implementation and commissioning. Must manage own projects or at least in part manage own projects and do development of system from start. Must be able to demonstrate good development cycle knowledge, practises and implementation. Travel will be required, within Africa and other countries, thus a valid passport and such documentation will be required or must be obtained. Candidate Requirements: Electrical Engineering Diploma or S4 in Process, Instrumentation, Digital Systems or equivalent, BTech qualification.
