Job Description:
This role will ensure construction work is in accordance with approved plans and City standards for subdivisions, rights-of-way, and utility work.
Examples of Duties:
* Ensures all work is done in accordance with approved plans, City standards, and expert knowledge of subgrade, concrete, asphalt, drainage structures and utility work.
* Prepares daily inspection reports.
* Reviews, approves, and updates utility encroachment documents.
* Prepares intermediate inspection reports.
* Makes recommendations for final acceptance or denial of rights-of-way dedications.
* Provides inspection reports to permittee and advises all permit holders of approvals and denials in a timely manner.
* Insures all reports are accurate and properly filed.
* Investigates inquiries regarding rights-of-way conditions and identifies and notifies responsible party.
* Completes annual inspections for on-site Stormwater detention facilities.
* Performs related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
* Associate's Degree (AA/AS) and two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and training.
* Valid driver's license.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software.
* SCDOT Asphalt Roadway Inspection (ARI) Certification and South Carolina Certified Erosion Prevention & Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) Certification or ability to obtain these certifications within one year of employment.
Other Necessary Requirements:
* In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs.
* May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
