Job Description

Seeking to hire BC/BE Optometrist to join their talented team in the North Austin, TX area.

This FQHC organization serves the primary and behavioral health care needs of all individuals regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.


  • Full time employment assumes 40 hours per week clinical time. Occasional evening clinic hours and weekend clinic hours are expected.
  • Examines diagnoses and treats appropriate patients of all ages.
  • Acts as a consultant on all ophthalmic cases referred by other staff providers
  • From time to time, provides in-service training for staff in selected topics in eye/vision care as deemed necessary by the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Completes medical charts after each visit in the electronic medical records system.
  • Assure high quality educational experience for optometry students, interns and other individuals in a training role.
  • Assists in internal quality control audits.
  • Provides quality medical care according to standards established
  • Applies for and obtains privileges at community hospitals in the area as recommended/required
  • Will be available, if necessary, to participate in providing continuity of care including hospital in-patient management.
  • Attends internal and external meetings, workshops, and conferences, and participates on task forces or committees, as necessary

Qualifications

  • Must be in possession of a valid license to practice optometry in the State of Texas, current DPS and DEA certificates.
  • Must have no current or pending findings that restrict the provider s ability to participate fully in CMMS services.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of optometry and allied services commensurate with his/her training.
  • Demonstrate a special interest in the area of community medicine.
  • Ability to speak enough Spanish to examine Spanish-speaking patients and converse on basic level strongly preferred.
  • Ability to relate to culturally diverse patients and community.
