Job Description

About the role:
  • A career within our Finance Change and Control team will provide you with the opportunity to advise companies as they navigate major change programmes, whether that's introducing and uplifting their risk and control frameworks, embark of finance transformation to improve reporting processes, support through significant transactions or helping to implement a GAAP conversion or new accounting standard.
  • We form part of a big team with over 70 people and offer a broad range of services. Our team is self-starting, agile and thrive on bringing past experiences to new and diverse challenges. You'll get to work as individuals or as part of multi-disciplinary teams to provide hands-on, client facing services to our clients across the Insurance, Asset Management, Banking and other financial sectors - depending on your previous skills and experience.


What we do:
  • We help our clients deliver value by implementing and enhancing enterprise risk and controls programmes. This includes process and controls design, transformation and optimisation to specific standards (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOx), as well as broader operational and compliance frameworks.
  • We help our clients deliver finance change and transformation programmes, finance change programmes driven by organisational change, new reporting standards or the need to improve their financial reporting function (e.g. implementation of new accounting standards, GAAP conversions, reporting rationalisation projects).


What your days will look like:
  • As a Manager, you'll work as part of an agile team of problem solvers who are technical SMEs with experience advising clients to deliver finance and/or risk and control change programmes. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Proactively assist in the management of several clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and above
  • Deliver client facing internal control and finance transformation projects, engaging with client stakeholders on a day to day basis and preparing high quality deliverables
  • Work in teams to deliver engagements, including monitoring engagement progress and budget
  • Act as a financial accounting and/or SOx subject matter expert for clients and internal stakeholders on projects
  • Liaise with other PwC specialists (e.g. Risk Modelling, Regulation and IT specialists) to bring specific SME knowledge when required, to provide an integrated service to our clients
  • Continuously build relationships with key client stakeholders to become their trusted advisors
  • Train and lead staff, contributing to the development of your own and team's technical acumen
  • Create a positive and inclusive team environment
  • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients


This role is for you if:
  • Significant experience of working within established professional services/consulting organisations or in-house at a financial services organisation, specifically focussed on technical accounting and finance change programmes and/or governance, risk and controls experience.
  • Technical experience and practical knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and/or US GAAP, and an interest in developing this knowledge further (e.g. audit or financial reporting experience)
  • A strong understanding of SOx compliance requirements and financial controls best practice, (e.g. as part of designing, implementing or testing controls in an audit or internal controls capacity)
  • A proven track record of successfully delivering change programmes
  • ​A willingness to learn new skills and listen to clients to deliver a service that meets their needs
  • Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and clients at all levels
  • The ability to apply good judgement during engagements and escalate issues appropriately
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (e.g. running walkthroughs, report writing)
  • ACA Qualification (or international equivalent) or have equivalent work experience. This includes international candidates who qualify through their experience in their home country
  • Demonstrable experience of working on multiple projects, managing your time effectively to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines
