Mental Health Support Worker

Worcestershire (Worcester & Kidderminster)

Fixed Term Post (6 months), Full Time (37.5 hpw)

Pay £12 per hour (£23,464 per annum)and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

As our Support Worker, youll be at the heart of supporting our customers who have complex Mental Health needs to develop their skills to live more independently in the community. Typical day as our Support Worker

  • Assisting customers with practical, daily living tasks to develop their independence, helping them to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans.
  • Working with a with a Mental Health Diagnosis.
  • Helping customers with daily living activities such as making meals, shopping, budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and moving onto independent accommodation if they are able.
  • Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
  • Cuppas, chats and catch ups. Theres no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

You bring

  • Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail
  • Experience of caring for others, you may have worked in care before or have experience of caring for others such as family members or children
  • The ability to workon your own initiative, remaincalm under pressure and havea resilient approach
  • Recognise every customer is different and youre able to adopt a flexible, personal approach, listening to customers to understand their needs
  • To get from A to B, youll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that well pay your mileage!

Our team

Youll join Katie our manager, and our wider Worcestershireteam, were super passionate about what we do! Katie can often be found getting stuck into DIY projects. Were really proud of developing the service to being 1 of only 2 providers within Worcestershire who provide Mental Health Support to customers who live within their own homes. Were a supportive bunch and like to get together socially on a regular basis.

Job details

  • Youll join the team working on a rota basis covering across the Worcestershire service where required. This could range from working within one of our 24/7 Supported Accommodation Services to working out and about within our Community Properties or within our customers own homes. Although youll have a base, youll be required to work across the service as and when needed to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Although youll lone work, we do get together regularly for training and team meetings.
  • As its a service and community-based role youll often be out and about in various locations such as supporting customers to attend their volunteering placements at local allotments or completing their weekly shop in Tesco. No two days are the same here!
  • Youre able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
  • Youll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
