About the role:

ARQ is a national team currently operating out of three primary hubs in London, Birmingham and Edinburgh. The successful individual would join the US CoE Team, which is part of our technology-connected Risk & Quality team of 120 within ARQ.

A role within our US Team, will provide the opportunity to support our Foreign Private Issuers, US Domestic Registrants, and US inbound component engagement teams and clients by providing advice and counsel on PCAOB and US GAAS auditing matters, as well as risk management and UK firm issues.

As part of the US Team you will provide expert advice on a variety of auditing and risk management topics, support engagement teams in resolving complex issues, develop technical materials, deliver technical US training to the UK firm, and empower and support the UK practice on PCAOB and SOx audits. The US Team also supports the wider EMEA region in questions, training and consultations on US auditing matters. You will develop strong relationships with engagement teams from the audit practice and enhance our ability to provide high quality audits.

What your days will look like:

The US Team is the first point of call for engagement teams reporting under US GAAS or PCAOB methodology. Typical activities include:
  • Providing accounting guidance and advice in response to consultations and enquiries from the practice.
  • Supporting UK Foreign Private Issuers and Domestic Registrants, and 270 US inbound engagement teams on audit methodology, risk assessment, and SOx engagements.
  • Producing and updating the firm's US methodology and guidance publications.
  • Developing and delivering US technical training to the firm and some clients.
  • Prepare PwC UK for the triennial PCAOB inspection and provide support throughout the inspection process.
  • Work with PwC CMAS to support PwC UK teams as part of the US capital markets process including IPOs, GAAS bridging and 3-05 engagements.
  • Consulting with teams in the EMEA region on PCAOB and US audit matters.
  • Team members will also be part of the wider ARQ team responding to consultations and enquiries from the audit practice via the Consult system.


This role is for you if:

We are looking for a high performing Director to lead the US Centre of Excellence (CoE) Team, within Audit Risk and Quality ("ARQ").

We're looking for a high level of technical auditing expertise and knowledge of PCAOB, US Audits and PwC audit methodology, in addition to the below:
  • Must possess ACA/ ACCA/ ICAS qualification (or an International equivalent)
  • A good working knowledge of PCAOB and US GAAS auditing standards with extensive experience working on PCAOB audits or in a SOx environment.
  • Excellent practical and technical auditing experience
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills to manage multiple competing pressures
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to quickly establish credibility, and influence at senior levels within the firm
  • A willingness to challenge points of views and opinion, through presenting logical arguments
  • Experience of managing people, workload and individual tasks
  • Ability to problem solve and develop solutions to assist the audit practice in adopting new standards or effective and efficient methods of working
