Our School

The Corner School is a Special Independent School for children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), who require high-quality specialist support. Our vision is to improve the life chances of all children at The Corner School by providing an appropriate and relevant education, improving their mental and physical health, and helping them build positive relationships with peers and adults so that they can contribute to their community and wider society.

We achieved a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in both 2019 and 2022, and are committed to delivering inspirational teaching that develops confidence in learning and encourages our pupils to take ownership of their learning and be proud of their achievements.

Our dedicated team of Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Therapists work together to develop personalised, dynamic support for each learner enabling them to grow in their own unique way. We offer a safe and nurturing environment and the stability needed to develop their self-esteem, resilience and enable them to learn.

Role Overview

The Inclusion Lead will play a key role in our small school community, and is an exciting opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the lives of children with SEMH needs.

You will have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, be resilient in working with children with SEMH needs, and be passionate about helping our children achieve their full potential.

Main Purpose of the role:

  • To assist the Head Teacher in ensuring inclusive practice is developed to promote the highest standards of pupil social, emotional, mental well-being, and achievement
  • To assist the Head Teacher in the day-to-day operation of specific school policies and processes
  • To develop and maintain high quality SEND provision, to support individual pupils with SEND, including leading on EHCP annual review meetings and submitting statutory documentation to the local authority
  • To support development and updating of documentation including risk management and safety planning for pupils and lead on specific key documentation (e.g. Pupil Support Plans) under the direction of the Head Teacher
  • As the school’s Deputy DSL, to assist the Head Teacher with safeguarding and any intervention/administrative duties
  • To support the Head Teacher in development, improvement and strategic work across the school
