Commissioning Engineer/SAP

Fourblue have teamed up with a leading ICP, who specialise in advanced solutions across 33kV, 132kV, 275kV and 400kV networks. Due to an increasing workload, we are seeking skilled Commissioning Engineers to join our dynamic team and contribute to our continued success.


As a Commissioning Engineer/SAP, you will manage the commissioning of sophisticated protection and control systems, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with the department manager and support the site team to maintain safety, compliance, and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.


Responsibilities of the Commissioning Engineer/SAP:

  • Commission protection and control systems for major energy projects, including feeders, transformers, isolators, and various relays
  • Ensure all planning, reporting, and documentation activities are completed on schedule and to the highest standards
  • Analyse system interactions and resolve issues efficiently
  • Support test engineering tasks, including routine and type tests, and provide specification support
  • Guide the site team to ensure project delivery aligns with time, cost, and quality expectations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and provide guidance to the site team, management, and clients
  • Ensure thorough handover to the customer and provide necessary briefings
  • Monitor progress and report to the customer as needed
  • Enforce safety rules, method statements, and risk assessments, and oversee site safety inspections
  • Liaise with third parties to ensure smooth implementation of work
  • Manage statutory records, certificates, licenses, and notices


Criteria of the Commissioning Engineer/SAP:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Commissioning Engineer on UK or EU energy projects
  • Authorisations held with a DNO up to 132kV
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, including mathematics and drawings
  • Knowledge of financial aspects of projects, CDM regulations, and DNO & IDNO processes
  • Familiarity with ICP practices and experience in compiling RAMS for commissioning works
