Job Description

M&E Commissioning Engineer Infrastructure Projects (DCWW Framework)
The Role:The M&E Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for the commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems for infrastructure projects within the DCWW Framework. The role involves ensuring that all systems and components are designed, installed, tested, and maintained according to the operational requirements of the client. The post-holder will work closely with project managers, site engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects based in Leominster.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Commissioning Management:
    • Manage the commissioning process for mechanical and electrical systems on infrastructure projects.
    • Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules.
    • Coordinate with design and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of systems.
    • Conduct site inspections and verify the installation and operation of systems.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all systems comply with relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
    • Prepare and review commissioning documentation, including test reports and manuals.
    • Identify and resolve any issues or defects in a timely manner.
    • Perform functional tests and system validation to ensure operational readiness.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental:
    • Set a high personal example of safety and environmental behavior.
    • Ensure all commissioning activities are conducted safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
    • Conduct safety briefings and ensure personnel are aware of RAMS.
    • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Coordination and Communication:
    • Liaise with project managers, site engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
    • Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
    • Attend and sometimes lead coordination meetings with stakeholders and subcontractors.
    • Maintain good working relations with all project participants.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Provide technical support and guidance on M&E systems and commissioning processes.
    • Stay updated with the latest industry standards and best practices.
    • Train and mentor junior engineers and other team members as required.
Key Skills and Experience:
  • Successful experience in a commissioning engineer role within infrastructure projects, particularly in the water industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated application of quality assurance and health and safety standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Strong people management experience, with the ability to manage subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at various levels.
  • Proficiency in using commissioning software and tools.
  • Computer literacy advanced, with proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience working on projects within the DCWW Framework.
  • Experience working with a tier 1 client.
  • Membership in a relevant professional institution (e.g., IET, IMECHE).
