Job Description


Hanley Foundation, a non-profit organization based in West Palm Beach, is dedicated to eliminating addiction through prevention, treatment, advocacy, and recovery support. As part of our expansion, we are seeking a Clinical Director to lead a new program that will provide critical treatment services for pregnant women with substance use and co-occurring disorders. This is a full-time position based at our West Palm Beach, Florida, treatment center.

The Clinical Director will be responsible for the daily clinical management of the women's unit, which serves pregnant and non-pregnant women ages eighteen through sixty. The director will lead a team providing compassionate treatment utilizing various therapeutic techniques. Strong clinical skills, experience utilizing evidence-based trauma therapy modalities, and expertise in perinatal substance use disorders are required. This role offers the opportunity to significantly impact the lives of both mothers and their children.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the leader of a multidisciplinary treatment team; manage clinical staff, including task assignment, training, individual supervision, and evaluation(s) of job performance.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based trauma therapy modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and treatment for Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD).
  • Collaborate on interventions and extended referrals to ensure consistent internal and external customer service.
  • Oversee daily clinical issues, including but not limited to meeting with patients and families, making decisions regarding unusual discharges, and providing proactive direction to minimize crises.
  • Coordinate and develop therapeutic presentations provided on the treatment unit.
  • Provide psycho-educational presentations and co-facilitate groups as needed.
  • Promote the integration of a 12-step philosophy and a positive peer culture with patients, families, referrals, and Hanley Foundation employees.
  • Serve as the point person for all public speaking events.
  • Complete monthly Quality Performance Indicator assessments.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Accounting, Intake, Admissions, and Continuing Care departments to resolve problems and improve seamless continuum functioning.
  • Ensure compliance of all state standards and accrediting bodies.
  • Troubleshoot grievances and incident reports.
  • Uphold all Hanley Foundation Care Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain patient/potential patient confidentiality following Hanley Foundation’s Policy.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge and ability to manage a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Expertise in perinatal (pregnancy and postpartum) mental health and substance use disorders.
  • In-depth knowledge of trauma-informed care and experience working with trauma populations.
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing the 12-step Philosophy.
  • Strong administrative skills, highly organized, and able to prioritize.
  • Knowledge and ability in strategic planning and implementation.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft products and network components.
  • Excellent communication skills that foster teamwork and high morale.
  • Able to manage crises calmly, proactively, and professionally.
  • Empower and delegate key duties to others.
  • Able to manage the client population utilizing a positive peer approach.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or above in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Florida state license to practice as a therapist (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT)·
  • At least 3 years of experience working in the fields of substance use, mental health, and trauma-related care.
  • Expertise in women's issues with a particular focus on perinatal substance use disorder and trauma-related disorders.
  • Previous managerial experience in the substance use and mental health fields.
  • Able to work outside of standard work hours and be on-call to assist with mental health crises and other urgent patient needs.
  • If in recovery, one (1) year of continuous sobriety is required. Exceptions to this requirement may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
