What the role is all about: We're seeking an Engineer - Cloud (2-3 years experience) who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of REA's cutting-edge products. You'll take a multifaceted approach to ensure technical excellence and operational efficiency within the infrastructure domain. By strategically integrating automation, monitoring and incident response, you facilitate the evolution from traditional operations to a more customer-focused and agile approach. While no two days are likely to be the same, your typical responsibilities will include: Analyze both technical and business needs to remedy, design and implement solutions that enhance system reliability, fault tolerance, and response times. Collaborate across REA with development teams to ensure reliable system design from the start and recommend best practices. Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues, driving continuous improvement and optimizing system performance. Provide detailed technical analysis of issues, lead remediation plans for mitigation and prevention. Take ownership and accountability of deliverables. Mentor other team members. Who we are looking for: 2 Experience writing developer tooling in a general-purpose programming language such as Python, Go, or TypeScript with a focus on Kubernetes, migration automation, and improving developer user experience. 2 years of experience in cloud platforms like AWS, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure automation tools. Deep expertise in troubleshooting, wielding logs, tracing, and monitoring tools (Splunk) to gain comprehensive system insights and proactively identify potential issues. Fine-tune application and infrastructure performance to ensure seamless scaling under various load patterns, keeping user experience top-notch. Demonstrate understanding of SLI/SLO/SLA metrics, chaos engineering principles, and user monitoring techniques to guide informed decision-making. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to conduct capacity planning and scalability assessments, designing solutions for current and future growth. Effectively communicate complex solutions to audiences with varying technical backgrounds, fostering consensus and collaboration.
