Preferred:

Multi-entity, multi-state, intercompany experience

Sage Intacct experience, Concur, Service Titan or similar software ERP systems

Experience in Public Accounting preferred

CPA or in progress

Leadership experience - will manage a small Team of Direct Reports

This is a Full Time exempt position. Will work on-site at our Columbia MD Office

JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The objective for the LTP Assistant Controller is to assist the LTP Controller with the monthly close of LTP and related activity such as balance sheet and income statement activity as well as intercompany transactions and certain shared services functions of Accounts Payable and Intercompany Processing for the Master Trade Group companies. The position will assist in the management of the LTP monthly close, preparation of monthly department financial statements and management presentations, inter department communication and coordination, managing accounting staff, managing requests related to the year-end audit, tax requirements and anything other accounting related. The role will provide excellent internal and external customer service while providing financial analysis and reporting, business systems management and other tasks in support of business operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assist with the planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions including monthly close and close coordination with other departments – strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills are a must.

Oversee a team of 3-5 senior and staff accountants as well as training and retaining skilled accounting staff as needed and maintaining a motivated team and fostering a collaborative environment

Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results on a monthly and annual basis; specifically Cash, AR, AP, Accrued Expenses and Prepaids monthly reconciled

Assist with the coordinating and preparing of internal and external financial statements for reporting to LTP and Executive management on a monthly basis – ability to understand and discuss trends and KPIs versus budget and prior year important

Assist with the annual budgeting process for LTP across all departments and locations.

Coordinating deliverables to external auditors that are requested for the annual Group audit

Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process as needed and perform ad hoc analysis requests needed by management

Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes and controls. Knowledge of US GAAP essential and an ability to understand how the accounting activity is part of a broader operational flow

Understanding accounting and internal control systems as needed to provide insights and recommendations for improvements. An understanding of accounting systems and information flow across department and processes important.

Ability to work in matrix reporting environment with reporting to local management and corporate accounting team critical to success. Ability to create strong relationships and understand the operational aspects and challenges of the business important.

Assist in the development of standard operating accounting procedures throughout the organization and document as needed processed and gaps

Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed and understand the data flow of information from the operations to the subledger system (Service Titan) to the GL (Sage Intacct) to the final reconciliations and reporting

As needed oversight and assistance with regulatory or tax requirements

Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff and maintaining a motivated team and fostering a collaborative environment

QUALIFICATIONS / ABILITIES:

Communicate effectively using internal/external customer service and develop a teamwork focused and collaborative environment

Strong attention to organization and detail and ensuring on a monthly basis needed work is performed

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills.

Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed in a professional group office environment.

Lift up to 30 Lbs.

Ability to travel by car to entities when required.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required

CPA is highly preferred

3-5+ years of experience working in accounting department, management experience preferred

Experience with Sage Intaact and Service Titan a plus
