Job Description

Missouri Valley College (www.moval.edu) seeks a Senior IT Application Development Director to play a pivotal role in shaping the Colleges technological landscape and confirming the seamless integration and optimization of Colleague and other key systems. The selected candidate will lead a talented team of IT professionals, setting the strategic direction for IT initiatives and ensuring that the technology and Student Information System (SIS) infrastructure aligns with the Colleges strategic objectives and growth plans.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Lead the development of the IT strategic plan, which is focused on the SIS and associated 3rd party systems

  • Manage and assist in the day-to-day administration and configuration of Colleague and associated 3rd party systems

  • Manage IT development resources and assist in the development for 3rd party systems, interfaces, integrations, and reports

  • Manage and assist in the testing of Colleague, custom developed, and 3rd party package systems

    • Serve as the primary Colleague + ORS expert, overseeing the customization, integration, and optimization of the Colleague platform

    • Collaborate with Colleague + ORS administrators and developers to ensure the platform meets the needs of the education agency

    • Implement best practices for Colleague + ORS data management and security



  • Manage and provide SIS user support and training across the campus

  • Manage SIS and other campus IT projects, including project prioritization, work plan development/management and risk/issues management, including associated action plans

  • Perform business analysis by defining requirements and designing or procuring relevant SIS-related solutions

  • Create and manage the delivery of KPIs (key performance indictors) and custom Dashboards through ongoing, robust analytics



Leadership:




  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement

    • Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and promote professional development for team members



  • Report to the Senior VP and actively engage as a member of the Executive Team

  • Oversee the Technology Team (i.e., IT and Colleague + ORS developer personnel)



Technology Infrastructure Management:




  • Manage the overall technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and cloud services

  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of IT systems to support business operations

  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans

  • Work alongside CISO for Data Security and Compliance

  • Implement and enforce data security measures to protect sensitive customer information

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards relevant to the education sector



Vendor and Budget Management:




  • Evaluate and select technology vendors and partners, negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships

  • Develop and manage the IT budget, optimizing resource allocation and cost-effectiveness



Project Management:




  • Lead and oversee Colleague and IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget

  • Maintain project documentation and communicate progress to stakeholders

  • Develop and manage key automated reporting systems

    • New student funnel

    • Student retention data

    • Student housing





Qualifications and Experience Requirements:




  • Bachelors degree preferred in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Masters preferred)

  • Proven experience as an IT leader or a similar executive leadership role within higher education

  • Familiar with Colleague + ORS expertise and relevant certifications (e.g., Colleague Certified Administrator, Colleague Certified Developer) and Banner

  • Strong understanding of education operations and technology requirements

  • Excellent leadership; skilled in presentation, people management, communication, and interpersonal relationships

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into technology solutions

  • Strong project management skills and experience leading complex IT projects

  • Knowledge of data security and compliance regulations in the education sector

  • Able to work onsite a minimum of four (4) days per week at the Marshall Campus.



The Senior IT Application Development Director will report to the Senior Vice President of Accounting and Human Resources.



Salary commensurate with experience; a generous compensation package is included.
