**Position: VM Qualification Assessor**

CPUS is seeking VM Qualification Assessors to Perform VM Assessments and prepare personnel to ensure completion of the qualification process, both written/computer testing and field observation, through effective communication and tail boarding. The VM Qualification Assessor coaches the performance and administration of initial and subsequent complex and non-routine VM Assessments and ensure workers understand the purpose and process.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform VM Assessments. Qualification assessments will focus on a specific area of skill/knowledge including, but not limited to, any task(s) preformed within vegetation management work may involve chainsaw use, tree felling, climbing, & cutting aloft, limbing & bucking, and use of aerial lift.
- Coach the performance and administration of initial and subsequent complex and non-routine VM Assessments, written or computer-based assessments and field observations of knowledge and skills including new and/or difficult skills and techniques, working independently.
- Prepare personnel to ensure completion of qualification process, both written/computer testing and field observation, through effective communication and tail boarding. Ensure workers understand the purpose and process.
- Share outcomes, observations, trends, gaps and issues with direct supervisor, the employee’s supervisor and/or manager that contribute to the development and implementation of mitigating strategies as needed.
- Address gaps and issues identified to improve VM Assessments, coaching tools, process, and/or materials.
- Ensure that all PG&E assessment and qualification processes are followed, and that qualification records are maintained in compliance with qualification program requirements.
- Create new assessment and qualification tests and processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholder groups to ensure appropriate process/asset recommendations are being implemented and maintained.
- Mentor and supervise less experienced team members.
- Must be capable of performing an aerial rescue.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Any technical or continued education in related field. (forestry, utility vegetation management and/or logging).
License/Certification Minimum:
- Valid driver’s license.
- CPR / First Aid.
- Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) or Consulting Utility Forester Safety Professional (CUFSP).OSHA 30.
- OSHA 30 (with focus in elec power).
- International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) credentials.
- Commercial driver’s license.
- Electric Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP).
- Three (3) years of experience in the arboriculture industry;
- One (1) year in trainer or safety position; and
- Five (5) years performing work relevant to assessments.
- Utility line clearance.
- Three (3) years heavy equipment operating experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and (Technical) Competencies
- Knowledge in technical discipline for which incumbent is performing assessments.
- Good understanding of specific work methods and procedures, including all safety practices.
- Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coach and provide feedback.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel
- Knowledge of OSHA Logging Regulations, ANSI Z133 Standards and PG&E Safe Work Practices.
- Bilingual (English / Spanish).
- Can personally pass assessments with competent or proficient level.
- Can perform assessments on others.
