Location: Oroville, CA

CPUS is seeking Senior Vegetation Management Safety Specialists to join our clients field safety work observation program.  The ideal candidate will have Training experience within the arboriculture/utility line clearance industry and a deep knowledge of OSHA Logging Regulations, ANSI Z133 Standards and PG&E Safe Work Practices.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Administers Vegetation Management field/yard assessments. Field/yard assessments will focus on specifics area of skill/knowledge including, but not limited to any task(s) preformed within Vegetation management. May involve working in extreme weather, day or night conditions, and hiking to observe chainsaw use, tree felling, climbing, and cutting aloft, climbing and bucking, and use of aerial lift, etc.
  • Perform initial and subsequent safety observations, written or computer- based documentation, and field observations of VM activities including new and/or difficult skills and techniques, with general guidance on new assignments.
  • Prepare employees/contractors for the entire observation process, written and/or computer documentation of field observation, through effective communication and tail boarding. Ensures employees understand the purpose and process.
  • Document and communicate results to front line. supervision/leadership, using standardized templates and forms.
  • Share outcomes, observations, trends, gaps and issues with direct supervisor, the employee’s supervisor and/or manager that contribute to the development and implementation of mitigating strategies as needed.
  • Address gaps and issues identified to improve observations, coaching tools, process, and/or materials.
  • Ensure the observation processes are followed, and observation records are maintained in compliance with CM program requirements.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of new standards/processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholder groups to ensure appropriate process/asset recommendations are being implemented and maintained.
  • Coach less experienced team members.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Any technical or continued education in related field. (Forestry, Utility Vegetation Management and/or Logging).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • CPR / First Aid.
  • OSHA 30.
  • Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) or Consulting Utility Forester Safety Professional (CUFSP).
  • Electric Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP).
Experience:
  • Five (5) years of experience in arboriculture industry or military experience and (3) years in the arboriculture industry.
  • One (1) year in trainer or safety position.
  • One (1) year performing work relevant to safety observations.
  • Utility line clearance.
  • Training experience within the arboriculture/utility line clearance industry.
  • Strong knowledge in technical discipline for which incumbent is providing safety observations and/or field/yard assessments.
  • Thorough understanding of specific work methods and procedures, including all safety practices.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coach and provide feedback.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Logging Regulations, ANSI Z133 Standards and PG&E Safe Work Practices.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish).
Preferred Certifications:
  • International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Credentials.
  • Commercial Driver’s License.
  • OSHA 30 (with focus in Elec Power)
