Summary:

The Safety Coordinator will assist in the development, implementation, and management of key safety programs across the Steel Warehouse of Ohio facilities. This position reports directly to the EHS/Quality Manager and will perform all duties in accordance with policies and procedures set forth by Steel Warehouse of Ohio, including, but not limited to:


Essential Job Duties:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, accident/incident investigation protocols, and OSHA recordkeeping procedures.
  • Maintain safety training documentation and facilitate safety meetings.
  • Oversees the identification and procurement of relevant PPE within the plants.
  • Interpret and clarify rules, regulations, and general policies as well as implement the company safety policy daily, to promote a safe work environment.
  • Serving as a partner and advisor to leadership on safety risk identification and avoidance.
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations, coaching and mentoring those involved to eliminate unacceptable risks.
  • Partner in the investigation of safety incidents to identify root cause and define continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific training programs.
  • Ensure safety programs are compliant (Injury Illness Prevention, Hazard Identification, Hazard Control and Correction, OSHA safety regulations, policies and procedures)
  • Prepare job specific safety plans for the customer, leaders, and project managers to include OSHA and EAP safety programs and policies.
Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or three to five years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA guidelines and practices
  • Experience in reporting and developing policies.
  • Strong verbal, written and analytical skill.
  • Competent in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Able to contribute positively as part of a team, helping with various tasks as required.
