Civil Design Engineer - Charlotte, NC
Work Location: On-Site full time, Charlotte, NC
Salary Range: Open / Need Requested Rate
Hours: 40 Hours per week
$3K Relocation Offerred
Position Details:
This position will be primarily focused on producing construction documents for small to large residential projects and some commercial projects. However, this person will be involved with other responsibilities such as minor project coordination, process building, and other relevant tasks as needed to deliver successful projects and foster a collaborative team environment. They will work with ownership and all employees on a day to day basis to assist in growing the company according to the company shared vision.
- Job Responsibilities / Traits
- Should have Civil Land Development experience.
- Should have experience in residential subdivision design and best practices
- Should be capable of performing independent design tasks, preparing construction drawings, organizing reports, calculations, and associated project deliverables
- Should have the ability with minimal instruction to carry out tasks in a timely manner
- Should be familiar with land development permitting requirements
- Should be proficient in plan sheet production and creating construction drawings
- Should have a clear understanding of the tasks involved in construction document preparation
- Should be familiar with storm drainage design and layout
- Should be familiar with utility design
- Should be familiar with all engineering calculations and requirements that are required for a complete set of construction documents
- Should understand how to create erosion control plans and the associated tasks that go into creating an effective erosion control plan set
- Should have the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time and prioritize based on team needs
- Should have good problem-solving capabilities
- Should be able to understand and manage project critical paths and scheduling for multiple projects
- Ability to organize and manage details for multiple projects concurrently
- Should be capable of working independently to prepare, submit, and permit land development projects
- Exercise initiative, judgment, and knowledge as required in areas of responsibility
- Perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed.
- Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, surveys, estimates, and work products.
- Interaction with clients and travel to client sites may be required
- Required Experience
- Civil Engineering degree
- 3-10 years of experience with Civil Engineer + PM Experience
- Ability to manage projects and produce plans from start to finish
- AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software
- Civil Land Development Experience
- Physical Requirements
- The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. At times a site visit will be required so traversing safely on job sites is required.
- Occasional travel to client facilities and project sites require ability to climb ladders, inspect and be physically mobile in and around client construction sites.
